We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party. We may disclose your information only in the following limited and lawful circumstances:
Your profile information — as configured by your own privacy settings — is visible to other registered members for the purpose of matrimonial matchmaking. You control what is visible through your account privacy settings at all times.
We engage trusted Australian and overseas third-party service providers (including payment processors, cloud hosting providers, and SMS gateway providers) under binding data processing agreements that require them to handle your information in a manner consistent with our obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
We may disclose your information where required or authorised by Australian law, court order, or regulatory authority — including the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), the Australian Federal Police (AFP), or the eSafety Commissioner — or where necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of our members or others.

|
Cross-Border Transfer Enquiries You may contact our Privacy Officer at info@oceaniamatrimony.com.au if you would like information about the specific countries to which your data may be transferred and the safeguards that apply. |
Our mobile application may request the following device permissions. All permissions are optional unless specifically required for a feature you choose to use, and can be managed or revoked at any time through your device settings.
The 'Near Me' feature uses your device location to display compatible matches in your geographical area. We collect location data only with your explicit consent and do not share your real-time location with other members. Disabling this permission will limit the Near Me feature but will not affect any other core service.
File access is required to allow you to upload profile photographs, share images, audio files, and documents within the Platform. This access is used solely for in-app functionality. We do not access, store, or share your device files beyond what is strictly necessary to deliver the feature you have requested.
Our app may request permission to automatically read OTPs (one-time passwords) delivered via SMS to streamline the verification process during registration or login. We do not read, store, or share any other SMS content. You may revoke this permission at any time in your device settings without affecting your ability to log in manually.
Camera access may be requested to allow you to take and upload profile photographs directly within the app. We do not activate or access your camera without your knowledge or without an explicit user action on your part.
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website and mobile application for the following purposes:
• To track usage paths and user behaviour in order to improve the Platform
• To collect aggregate, anonymised statistical information about site usage
• To remember your session and login preferences
• To enhance your overall experience on the Platform
Most web browsers accept cookies by default. You may configure your browser to block or delete cookies; however, some features of the Platform may not function correctly if essential cookies are disabled. We do not use cookies to serve targeted third-party advertising.
|
Cookie Policy Our Cookie Policy — available at www.oceaniamatrimony.com.au/cookie-policy — provides full details about the cookies we use, their duration, their purpose, and how you can manage your preferences at any time. A cookie consent banner is displayed on your first visit to the Platform, in compliance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) APP 3. |
We implement technical and organisational security measures consistent with the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) Essential Eight framework and ISO/IEC 27001 principles to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, use, modification, or disclosure. These measures include:

Oceania Matrimony is dedicated to creating a safe, respectful, and genuine environment for all members. Our team manually reviews all profiles and maintains strict abuse-reporting and fraud-prevention systems. Your personal safety also depends on the precautions you take. Please follow these guidelines.
Tip 1 — Start Slow — Use Messages Initially
Take your time before sharing any personal contact details. Use the Oceania Matrimony messaging platform for all initial conversations.
|
✔ FOLLOW • Set up a separate email address for initial communications with new matches. • Trust your instincts — if something feels off, slow down or stop. • Stop communicating with anyone who pressures you to share personal information prematurely. • Look for consistency across messages and watch for evasive or contradictory behaviour. |
|
✖ DON'T • Do not share your personal or work email address with someone you have just met online. • Do not feel obligated to respond to every message — you are always in control. |
Tip 2 — Request a Photo
Viewing multiple photographs gives you a clearer sense of the person you are communicating with and helps confirm their identity.
|
✔ FOLLOW • Use the Photo Request feature on Oceania Matrimony. • Ask to see several photos in different settings — casual, formal, indoors, and outdoors. • Treat repeated avoidance of photo sharing as a warning sign. |
|
✖ DON'T • Do not accept a single photograph as definitive proof of identity — cross-reference where possible. |
Tip 3 — Move to Phone Calls Only When Ready
A phone or video call can reveal important communication cues that text alone cannot convey. Share your contact number only when you feel fully comfortable.
|
✔ FOLLOW • Consider using a secondary prepaid mobile number for early calls. • Use call-blocking or number-withholding features if your carrier supports them. • Progress to a call only after you have built genuine trust through messages. |
|
✖ DON'T • Do not share your primary personal or work phone number with someone you have just matched with. |
Tip 4 — Meet in Person Only When You Are Ready
The Platform gives you the freedom to gather information at your own pace. There is no obligation — ever — to meet anyone offline.
|
✔ FOLLOW • Remember — you are always in control of when and whether to meet. • Even after agreeing to a meeting, you always have the right to change your mind. • Share your plans with a trusted family member or friend before any offline meeting. |
|
✖ DON'T • Do not feel pressured by anyone — online or in person — to move faster than you are comfortable with. |
Tip 5 — Meet in a Safe, Public Place
When meeting for the first time, your safety must come first.
|
✔ FOLLOW • Choose a well-populated public place — a café, restaurant, or shopping centre during busy hours. • Arrange your own transport to and from the meeting at all times. • Tell a trusted friend or family member the person's name, the location, and your estimated return time. • If possible, bring a trusted person to your first meeting. • Keep your mobile phone charged and accessible throughout. |
|
✖ DON'T • Do not allow your match to pick you up from or drop you at your home on a first meeting. • Do not agree to meet in a secluded, private, or unfamiliar location for the first time. • Do not go alone to a movie, private residence, or isolated area on an initial meeting. |
Tip 6 — Watch for Warning Signs
Vigilance is your strongest protection. If something feels wrong, trust your instincts and act on them.
|
✔ FOLLOW • Ask direct, thoughtful questions and watch for inconsistency in responses over time. • Pay attention to displays of anger, controlling behaviour, or attempts to pressure you. • Involve a trusted family member or friend in your search — a second opinion is valuable. • Report suspicious profiles or behaviour immediately to info@oceaniamatrimony.com.au. |
|
✖ DON'T • Do not ignore inconsistencies in age, profession, marital status, appearance, or personal history. • Do not continue communicating with someone who avoids answering direct questions. • Do not dismiss gut feelings — if something does not feel right, it probably is not. |
Tip 7 — Beware of Financial Scams
Romance and matrimonial platforms are targeted by scammers. Stay alert to any form of financial manipulation.
|
✔ FOLLOW • Report any request for money immediately to our team at info@oceaniamatrimony.com.au. • Report financial scams to ACCC Scamwatch at www.scamwatch.gov.au. • Be especially cautious of people who express deep affection very quickly and then request money. • Verify the identity of anyone who claims an emergency requiring financial assistance. |
|
✖ DON'T • Never send money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or financial assistance to someone you have met online. • Do not share your bank account, credit card, or financial details with any match. • Do not click on suspicious links or attachments shared in messages. |
Tip 8 — Protect Your Digital Privacy
Your online privacy extends beyond the Platform. Protect your digital identity at every step.
|
✔ FOLLOW • Use a strong, unique password for your Oceania Matrimony account and enable multi-factor authentication (MFA). • Regularly review your profile privacy settings to control what information is visible to other members. • Log out of your account after every session — especially on shared or public devices. • Report any suspicious messages or unexpected account activity to info@oceaniamatrimony.com.au immediately. |
|
✖ DON'T • Do not share your account login credentials — password or verification codes — with anyone. • Do not use the same password across multiple websites or apps. • Do not access your account over public Wi-Fi without a VPN. |
